sorry but had to rant a lil while. just read in a fic about tolkien elves how the author was making contraception and etc bc the idea of having total control of when a baby could be born seemed as realist as the holy marriage things of the customs book. and i’m like. doesn’t that sound like the ideal state, total control over if a fertilised ovule gets to survive to become a baby? and if not, just boom, down it goes with the rest in menstruation? no great drama, no great stress. just. nature doing her thing. (dunno if tolkien elves menstruate, but seems like they should. longer spaced of course but. they mammals too) anyway, isn’t that a state of bliss which allows woman to have as much sexual interaction with the same worries as a man.
but some people prefer drama and being able to relate to a completely fantastical pseudo-immortal species i guess. not like there aren’t thousands of stories with vainilla humans with which they could relate. the gave to take the scapism and the relief of no babies unwanted lol
i mean. everybody is free of believing and headcano-ing and au-ing whatevs they want of a canon. doesn’t mean i really get, in the feels, why those choices. yikes.
